Thanks for your reply. I have added the printer driver in the printer pop-up menu and believe I need to know the IP number for setting up the printer connection using the AirPort Extreme. The IP of AirPort Extreme is 192.168.1.1 and what is the IP of the USB printer hooked up with AirPort Extreme. I guess should be something 192.168.1.1:8000 or 192.168.1.1:8080 or something like that. However I cannot find the answer from those user instructions. Any idea to set it up with Windows users in the network especially. 1 Connect the power cord to the back of the printer and to an. Using a USB cable (not included) to simplify wireless setup. If you're using Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7, or 10.8, or you don't. Look for the numbers below. Mar 27, 2018 - If your printer is one of the following brands: Brother, Canon, Epson. Now, if you'd prefer not to connect with the USB cable, for example you. I am searching the tips to fix this issue. From the Google, I understand the RAW port has been changed in AirPort Extreme firmware update and tried 9101 and 9201 from default 9100 under RAW protocol. It still does not work at all. I also installed bonjour Print Service for Windows on a Windows xp pc on the LAN and no luck at all - there is no detected printer. The USB printer is working well on my iMac via AirPort Extreme. Why it is so difficult to make it work and there is no any user guide in this area! I have added the printer driver in the printer pop-up menu and believe I need to know the IP number for setting up the printer connection using the AirPort Extreme. The IP of AirPort Extreme is 192.168.1.1 and what is the IP of the USB printer hooked up with AirPort Extreme. The printer would be at the same IP address as the AirPort's LAN-side IP address. Which is 192.168.1.1 in your case. When connected to the USB port, it is under control of the print server function built-in the AirPort. I guess should be something 192.168.1.1:8000 or 192.168.1.1:8080 or something like that. You shouldn't need to add the port number with the IP address as both your computer and the shared printer are on the same local network and not going through the AirPort's NAT service. Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the 'advanced' printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers. To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this link. If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. IFelix also provides the following for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try. Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help: Finally, check out this to see if your printer is listed as having a Postscript or PCL3 interface. If it does, then it will most likely work with the AirPort's USB port. Printers that use the 'HP LIDIL' interface must be connected to a computer directly and will not work. I checked the iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link and only a few printers are on the list. The list is for printers that work with APE. As the printer is working correctly with my iMac, it is no doubt Epson should work correctly with APE. I tried my MBA that is running OSX 10.6 and does not recognise the Epson printer like my iMac running OSX 10.7. ![]() ![]() When I firstly hooked up the Epson printer to APE, my iMac recognised it immediately without doing anything. I do not know how my iMac detects the Epson printer. In the Print & Scan menu, the Location indicates my iMac. What does it mean? My printer is hooked up with APE, not my iMac. For the Windows pcs in the network, I tried to change the Raw port to 9101 or 9202 from default 9100 without any success. If Epson M1400 is not compatible with APE, why my iMac is working correctly but only other Mac pc and Windows pc are not working with the printer. I believe I may not know the exact procedure to set it up correctly. Any hints to help? I also had problems connecting with my printer - Canon Pixma MP280 - though USB via Airport Extreme. When I connect it directly to my Mac with USB it just works. But when I connected it to my Airport Extreme the printer wasn't recognized. I tried all kinds of settings and tried to connect though IP, this all failed. For me to get it work I had to change the Airport Internet settings 'Connect though DHCP' into 'Connect static'. This gives all devices (and the printer) a static ip address.
